About Mr. Bohemian
My stage name is Bob Bohemian, or Mr. Bohemian. I’m a lil’ boogie and a lil’ groovy. I’m a Chicago-based theater artist, critic, and writer creating original theatrical worlds through The Cotillion: my artistic platform.

Two Bobs, Both Alike in Dignity
Mr. Bohemian is the pseudonym I use for my artistic work; Victor Bertocchi is the person behind it. Bob gives my theater, criticism, and philosophy a common artistic through-line. Meanwhile Victor is the ordinary fellow who still has to answer emails and pay taxes. Bob gets all the fun.
My work moves between original plays, theatrical criticism, and philosophy. The forms differ, but they share a curiosity about people, ideas, transformation, and the strange things that happen when an abstract question has to survive contact with life.

Mr. Bohemian works across several creative fields. These are a few of the routes currently in motion.
Theater Artist
I write and develop original theatrical worlds through The Cotillion, where philosophical questions are allowed to become people, conflict, comedy, image, and consequence.
Critic
Through Dr. 2’s Indie Office, I review Chicago theater through a deliberately theatrical medical conceit: plays arrive as patients and leave with a bill of health.
Writer and Thinker
I write across theater, criticism, and philosophy, with a particular interest in Being, Nothingness, transformation, inheritance, freedom, and responsibility.
Behind the Bohemian
Chicagoland is my thoroughly modern home. Much of my artistic imagination comes from moving through a city where ordinary infrastructure, theater, philosophy, and everyday life keep bumping into one another.
Beyond the stage, I’m usually moving through Chicagoland rather than sitting still. I love to ride my e-bike and euc through Chicago’s generous bike lanes. During the day, I love to help patients when working in healthcare.
